Research Privacy Notice
O'Rourke Studios · 11 September 2026
This notice explains what happens to your information if you take part in our online research study about how teams work. It covers this study only.
O'Rourke Studios Ltd (registered in England, company number 17244257) is the data controller for this study. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
Questions, concerns or requests: events@orourkestudios.com
If you take part, we record:
- your Prolific ID — the anonymous identifier Prolific gives you
- your answers to the classification task
- how long you take, per question and in total
- the browser and device type you used, so we can confirm the study ran correctly
We do not collect your name, your email address, or your IP address. We never see your real identity — Prolific does not share it with us.
Why are we doing this study?
To test whether six written descriptions of team behaviour can be told apart by people meeting them for the first time. Your answers are used for that analysis, for academic publication, and to develop the framework being tested.
Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give at the start of the study.
- Prolific recruits you and pays you. Prolific holds your account details; we never see them. Prolific is responsible for its own handling of your data.
- Gorilla hosts the study and stores your responses on servers in the UK.
Your Prolific ID is deleted within 14 days of the study closing. After that your answers are fully anonymous and cannot be traced back to you by anyone, including us.
Your anonymous answers are kept indefinitely, and may be published as an open dataset so that other researchers can check our analysis.
Before your Prolific ID is deleted, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop using it
Email events@orourkestudios.com and quote your Prolific ID.
After the 14-day deletion we can no longer identify which answers are yours, so we cannot act on these requests — there is nothing left to link to you.
You can stop the study at any time before submitting your final answer, without giving a reason.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first at events@orourkestudios.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
